Death toll rises to 15 in Morocco building collapse

RABAT, May 22 (Xinhua) -- The death toll from the collapse of a residential building in the northern Moroccan city of Fez has risen to 15, official news agency MAP reported on Friday.

The six-story building, housing 11 apartments, eight of them occupied, collapsed early Thursday in the densely populated Ain Nokbi neighborhood, south of the city, the agency reported.

Rescue teams recovered 13 bodies from the rubble, while two more victims later died after being transferred to a local hospital, it said.

Judicial police have opened an investigation to determine the cause of the collapse.
