RABAT, March 6 (Xinhua) -- The Moroccan government has set Sept. 23 as the date for the country's next election for the 395-seat House of Representatives, the lower house of parliament.

The cabinet approved the draft decree setting the date of the elections, government spokesperson Mustapha Baitas told the press following a cabinet meeting on Thursday.

The draft decree also set the deadlines for submitting candidacies through the dedicated electronic platform, and the electoral campaign period, Batias added.

Under the country's constitution, Morocco's King appoints the prime minister from the party which wins most seats, who will then proceed to form a government.
