BEIJING, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Tuesday congratulated Sifi Ghrieb on assuming office as prime minister of Algeria.

In his message, Li said that China and Algeria share a profound traditional friendship. Over the 67 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties, the bilateral relations have maintained sound and steady growth, said Li, noting that the two countries have always stood together and supported each other.

In July 2023, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune paid a successful state visit to China, during which he held fruitful talks with President Xi Jinping, and they provided strategic guidance for the development of bilateral relations, said Li.

Noting that the Chinese government attaches great importance to advancing ties with Algeria, Li voiced his readiness to work with Ghrieb to fully implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthen political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation and promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Algeria to new heights.
