Chinese embassy donates food supplies to Mauritania's Assaba Region

NOUAKCHOTT, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Embassy in Mauritania on Tuesday handed over a batch of food supplies to the Assaba Region to support residents recently affected by floods.

The donation, comprising rice, cooking oil, sugar, and milk powder, was delivered during a ceremony attended by Wang Yongzhao, charge d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Mauritania, and Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Habib, president of the regional council of Assaba. Both officials signed the handover certificate.

Wang conveyed sympathy to flood-affected communities in the region and expressed hope that the aid would help residents recover from the disaster and improve living conditions.

Habib thanked the Chinese embassy for what he described as a generous gesture, saying it reflects the genuine friendship of the Chinese people toward the people of Mauritania, and would be remembered by the residents of Assaba.
