UNITED NATIONS -- Local authorities in Yemen have reported 77 people killed, including children, in flooding from mid-July to mid-August that affects more than 200,000 people, UN humanitarians said on Wednesday.

Heavy rainfall triggered flooding across 16 of the 20 governorates in the country, particularly impacting sites of displaced people, said the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. (UN-Yemen-Floods)

ALGIERS -- At least 26 people were killed in forest fires in eastern Algeria, Interior Minister Kamel Beldjoud said on Wednesday.

RABAT -- A bus overturned in central Morocco on Wednesday, killing 15 people and injuring another 37, the official news agency MAP reported.

QUITO -- Ecuadoran police on Wednesday captured a suspect for involvement in the deadly explosion that rocked the southwestern port city of Guayaquil on Sunday.
