JERUSALEM/ANKARA -- Israel and Türkiye agreed on Wednesday to reinstate full diplomatic ties and dispatch ambassadors to each other after years of tensions.

"Israel and Türkiye have decided to restore full diplomatic ties between our nations, including returning ambassadors," Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid wrote on Twitter. (Israel-Türkiye-Diplomatic Ties)

BAGHDAD -- Iraq's top officials and political leaders on Wednesday called on loyalists to prominent Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr to engage in a national dialogue to break the country's political deadlock.

In a meeting that was attended by Iraqi President Barham Salih, Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, and leaders of Iraqi national political forces, participants "expressed their commitment to finding a solution to all crises through dialogue to preserve the unity of Iraq, the security, and stability of its people," read a statement by the media office of the caretaker Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi. CAIRO -- At least seven people were killed and 13 injured, all belonging to the same family, in a microbus crash on a highway northeast of Egypt's capital Cairo on Wednesday, state-run Akhbarelyom newspaper reported.

The microbus, or a mass transit minivan, was carrying a family including children from a Delta city to the northeastern city of Ismailia for a summer holiday, and overturned when the driver took a U-turn at a high speed, the ambulance authority in Cairo told Xinhua. (Egypt-Traffic Accident-Kill)

ALGIERS -- At least 26 people were killed in a series of wildfires hitting eastern parts of Algeria, Interior Minister Kamel Beldjoud said on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, the firefighting department announced that 39 fires were reported in 14 provinces in the eastern part of the country known by its dense forests. (Algeria-Forest Fire-Kill)
