RIO DE JANEIRO, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Benfica have reached a deal to sign defender Joao Victor from Corinthians, according to media reports in Brazil.

The Sao Paulo club will receive eight million euros for 55% of the center-back's economic rights, Globo Esporte reported on Monday.

The 23-year-old is expected to make his last appearances for Corinthians in their Copa Libertadores round of 16 fixture against Boca Juniors on Tuesday before traveling to Portugal on Thursday.

Victor has made 74 first-team appearances for Corinthians since his 2017 move from Atletico Mineiro.

Benfica currently have five Brazilians in their squad: defenders Gilberto and Lucas Verissimo; forwards Rodrigo Pinho and David Neres; and goalkeeper Helton Leite.
