JUBA, May 23 (Xinhua) -- South Sudan's national soccer team vowed Monday to intensify preparations to qualify for the finals of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be played in Cote d'Ivoire in 2023.
Stefano Cusin, the head coach of South Sudan men's football team Bright Stars, has called 30 players to a training camp in Juba, the capital of South Sudan, and will whittle the final 23-strong squad by Sunday.
"We will fight until the end and of course it's football, anything can happen in one game," Cusin told journalists in Juba.
According to the South Sudan's Football Association (SSFA), the team will camp in Morocco for four days before traveling to face Gambia on June 4.
Cusin revealed that the SSFA is in contact with three sports doctors in Italy to help prepare the team mentally.
