LISBON, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- Portugal on Friday recorded 58,530 new COVID-19 cases, reaching a new record high for four consecutive days, according to the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).
The total number of infections has reached 2,118,125 since the beginning of the pandemic.
The daily epidemiological bulletin points to 49 more deaths resulting from complications by COVID-19, leading the total fatality to 19,496 since March 2020.
Forty more people were hospitalized in the last 24 hours. Currently, 2,044 people are now being treated for COVID-19 in Portuguese hospitals, of which, 162 are in intensive care units.
