ADDIS ABABA, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- Ethiopia registered 386 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking its nationwide tally to 359,881 as of Tuesday evening, the country's health ministry said.
Meanwhile, 20 new virus-related deaths and 1,077 more recoveries were reported, bringing the national counts to 6,258 and 330,334 respectively, the ministry said.
Ethiopia, Africa's second-most populous nation, has so far reported the largest number of COVID-19 cases in the East Africa region.
A total of 4,048,361 vaccine doses have been administered across the country amid a nationwide push for immunization, the ministry said.
Ethiopia is among the countries hardest hit by COVID-19 in Africa, following South Africa, Morocco and Tunisia.
