RABAT, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- Morocco on Tuesday urged the Libyan parties to hold general elections scheduled for Dec. 24 on time.
Respecting the electoral calendar is the only solution for Libya to get out of its current crisis, Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita told reporters following his talks with Khaled al-Mechri, president of Libyan High Council of State, in the Moroccan capital of Rabat.
For his part, al-Mechri said that the High Council of State "strongly insists" on holding the parliamentary and presidential elections as scheduled on Dec. 24.
At the same time, al-Mechri expressed concerns about the "conduct of this electoral process" and "the acceptance of its results."
The High Council of State is examining with its local and international partners on how to dispel these concerns, he added.
