ALGIERS -- Algeria on Sunday held the funeral in the capital Algiers for former President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, who died Friday night at age 84.

Bouteflika was buried Sunday afternoon at the Square of the Martyrs in the cemetery of El-Alia where several former presidents were buried. (Algeria-President-Funeral)


JERUSALEM -- Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid and his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry talked over the phone on Sunday and agreed to strengthen bilateral ties, Lapid's office said in a statement.

The two ministers agreed to boost the good relations between the two countries and advance the ties forward," the statement read. They both declared their wish to strengthen bilateral economic ties and "increase the potential of trade and business activity." (Israel-Egypt-Talk)


JERUSALEM -- Starting Sunday, Israel has re-allowed foreign tourist groups to enter the country, the Israeli Ministry of Tourism said.

This resumption is limited to tourist groups only from countries without high COVID-19 morbidity, the ministry said, adding that all tourists in the groups must be vaccinated with three doses, or with the second dose given in the last six months. (Israel-Tourist-Entry)


ISTANBUL -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan departed for the United States on Sunday to attend the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly that will be held in New York.

Speaking at a press conference in Istanbul before his departure, Erdogan said that issues related to health, climate change and sustainable development will be high on the agenda of the general debates. (Turkey-President-UNGA)
