ACCRA, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Ghana's male senior national team the Black Stars lost 1-0 to the Atlas Lions of Morocco in an international friendly in Rabat on Tuesday evening.
The home side started the match as the better of the two in the initial stages. However, the Black Stars gradually warmed themselves up later and dominated play with some decent chances to score.
Despite the pressure piled by the two sides on each other, neither of them was able to convert any of the chances hence ending the first half barren.
In the second half, the Atlas Lions broke the deadlock in the 68th minute when Jawal El Yamek capitalized on a mistake by Black Stars goalkeeper Razak Abalora to head the ball into the net for their first and only goal of the game.
Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus nearly came close to scoring in the 70th minute but saw his drive towards goal missed the post by few inches.
The two teams used the game to prepare for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers set for September this year.
The Black Stars are scheduled to play the Elephants of Cote d'Ivoire in their second friendly match at home at the Cape Coast sports stadium on Saturday.
