RABAT, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Morocco arrested four people suspected to be part of a criminal network involved in organizing illegal migration and human trafficking, official news agency MAP reported on Sunday.
The suspects were apprehended in the port of Agadir while trying to transport 20 candidates for illegal migration onboard a fishing vessel, the report added.
The candidates for illegal migration were of different nationalities.
During 2020, Moroccan police arrested 466 suspects allegedly linked to 123 human trafficking networks, according to official statistics.
A total of 9,179 candidates for irregular migration, including 6,162 of foreign nationalities, were prevented from leaving Morocco.
