Africans domesticated donkeys 5,000 years ago
The partnership between people and the ancestors of today's donkeys was sealed by mobile, pastoral people who recruited animals to help them survive the harsh Saharan landscape in northern Africa some 5,000 years ago, according to genetic investigators.
